Covid-19 Update

To our valued patients,

During such challenging times, we hope all has been well with you and your family.

Back to scheduling appointments since June, we continue with extensive precautionary measures to ensure the safety of our patients and staff.  There are infection control procedures set by The Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario and The College of Dental Hygienists of Ontario, as well as health regulations set by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Toronto Public Health and Public Health Ontario – we are fully compliant.

We have changed our appointment procedures since we reopened. To ensure optimum safety, we also take other precautionary measures to provide the safest dental treatment possible:

Before your appointment:

  • Pre-screening patients for COVID-19 symptoms and possible contact with COVID-19-positive persons.

  • Send all required documentation (e.g. new patient registration forms) electronically for completion.

  • Please make any changes to your contact or insurance information or ask questions of our receptionists before your appointment –  we are limiting time spent in the reception area.

Upon your arrival at the office:

  • Upon entering the office, we screen patients for COVID-19 symptoms and possible contact with COVID-19-positive persons.

  • If patients exhibit signs or symptoms of illness, or exposure to COVID-19, they are asked to reschedule their appointments.

  • Unless patients require care from a guardian or caregiver, only scheduled patients are allowed into the office.

  • There is no physical contact with patients other than for treatment.

In-office measures:

  • We are providing hand sanitizer for everyone at our entrance and throughout the office.

  • Because they are difficult to disinfect, we have removed magazines, children’s toys, etc.

  • Throughout the day, we frequently clean and sanitize common areas.

Your treatment and care:

  • We provide all clinical and administrative team members with the appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), including N95 (or equivalent) masks, face shields, gowns, gloves, and other protective equipment as required.

  • Before patients are seated for their treatment, rooms are completely sanitized – extra time has been scheduled between appointments to allow for the thorough cleaning and disinfection of spaces and equipment.

  • We have installed doors or barriers and air purifiers in all treatment rooms.

  • During treatment, our entire staff will strictly follow guidelines set by the CDC, Public Health and our dental governing bodies.

Checking out after your appointment:

  • For the protection of both patients and team members, plexiglass screens have been installed at reception counters.

  • Contactless payment is now preferred. We wipe down terminals after each use.

  • Please note that we no longer accept payments with cash and cheques.

Some helpful tips for a smooth appointment:

  • We discourage early arrivals. Please plan for slightly longer appointment wait times as we thoroughly disinfect and prepare each room between patients.

  • We suggest that you leave ample time on either side of your appointment in case of delays.

  • Try to minimize your time in the operatory after your treatment; make your way back to the front when you are finished.

  • We’re happy to address any questions and concerns you have by phone or email before your visit to ensure timeliness during your appointment. We’re giving priority to completing treatments and addressing any immediate dental concerns during your appointment.

We have always held the safety of our patients and staff as the top priority. These measures are put in place at the recommendation of our governing bodies at the RCDSO and the CDHO. We will continue to keep you updated as these measures change.

*If your anticipated treatment cannot be completed in the allotted time, treatment will get completed at a separate visit, and another appointment will be made.

Our first priority is the safety of our patients and staff. Our entire Urbanview Dental team is committed to your safety and comfort as you receive dental care from our clinic.

We look forward to reconnecting with all of our patients and providing the best we can for your dental care.

If, after your review of the above information, you have any questions or concerns related to your dental care or our procedures, please contact us directly.

We wish you all the best and look forward to seeing you again soon!
